10/22 mods/accessories
Anyone use the Williams Peep sights? Do you like them?
I like my 10/22 compact so I did not scope it. I don't need a scope getting banged around when off-roading. These sights work well for me, and the increased sight radius helps a lot. I've upgraded all springs, polished trigger assembly, mag release, bolt hold open, slide buffer, titanium claw extractor, and sights. This is a real smooth plinker. http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/IMG_0973.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/IMG_0970.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/IMG_0966.jpg |

Neat sights.
All I did was install a slide buffer and a Volquartsen extractor. Both upgrades made noticeable improvement in function. |

Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
Mine is scoped. I don't consider that a modification. The stock sights work under the scope for near target acquisition. Would that peep sight fit under a scope?

Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
Hello, I just purchased a used 10/22 and don't know much about it what would be the first thing to do to it. I'm not that up on guns yet but want to learn. It does have a small scope mounted on it and seems to be alittle far off me eye, you dont get a full view. I was told to move back and re site it in. I have not had a chance to shoot it just yet, was told to do a cleaning and oil. What else make this a better gun...Thx

Clark trigger, Hogue Overmolded stock, and BSA 4X scope for me. The action fits tighter and beds much better in the Hogue stock than the factory one.

Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
The first thing you should do is clean it and while cleaning it strip the paint from the inside of the receiver. That is about the dumbest thing I've seen on a gun. The paint WILL interfere with the bolt's sliding and the resulting flakes WILL end up in your magazines.
As for modifications, the list is endless but I would strongly recommend an upgraded extractor over all else as it will improve the performance of the gun. It is a very easy upgrade to do as well. |

I need to upgrade mine along with a couple other things. So far I just did/made my own extended mag release, installed a BC folding stock, bolt buffer, painted the front sight a "glow in the dark" flourescent green and added a sling. Still need to do the bolt hold, sights, and extractor. So you got the 16" barrel correct? Ever use the BC folding stock? I recommend it if you want an even more compact rifle to stash away or carry. :bear_thumb: |
Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
I have 2 10/22s, both extensively modded. This one was a lightweight build. It wears a Boyd stock and Tactical Solutions barrel. Tru-Glow 2 power dot and Powers trigger parts. This one is light enough to shoot off hand like a pistol and will shoot 1/2 groups at 50 yards.
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...1959/lwt22.jpg My second 10/22 is set up for pure accuracy. It sports a Fajen stock, Volquartzen barrel, powers trigger parts, and a Simmons 6X24 scope, It will easily shoot 1/4 inch 50 yard groups. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...r1959/1022.jpg |
Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
The best mod I have found is a Volquartzen target hammer. It was around $40 or so.
I agree with stripping the paint from inside the receiver, I did that as well. |
Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
You really need to have at least one 10/22 with a bull target barrel--and a Ruger Mk II or III pistol with the bull-barrel as well. The reason is that (because of the straight barrels) it is very easy to make slip-fit silencers for these guns.
I would not advise you to do this now, as the penalties for getting caught with such a silencer are rather harsh--but if/when guns are completely outlawed anyway, it's going to be VERY useful to have a gun that you can fire with police in the area, that they will not hear. -end- |

Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
Ruger 10/22.....$200
Evolution Stock with AR accs...$300 Bushnell scope...$50? Tactical Solutions barrel ....$180 Spending $730 on just a plinker.......well it's $730 Finding this rifle at a local funstore for $325.... now that's priceless! The previous owner must have needed cash. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/1022-2.JPG As a bonus it had a M4 buffer and spring in the tube! That will come in handy for one of my other rifles later. There are a ton of mods for 10/22s. Before I found this rifle I had never seen an Evolution stock. It's real tough. |

Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
aftermarket mag release will work fine. looking for one not made of plastic, may file one out myself this winter. the ones mounted on the triggerguard are nice also.

Re: 10/22 mods/accessories
This is the only mag I have ever had any luck with other than the stock 10 rounder. I've tried Eagle and Butler Creek and both had problems.
